General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan is the current Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army. He took office at 25 June 2012. Government announced him as country's 13th Chief of Army Staff however General Bhuiyan will be the 16th Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army counting ever since promoted Major General from Lt. Colonel Mohammad Abdur Rab was appointed to that position for the first time in 1971.
